From a very young age, TJ has always had a keen interest in horse racing. After attending his local riding school near to his family home in London, his passion soon soared, and he made the decision to move to racing headquarters to pursue his dream career. It was here that he served his apprenticeship to Michael Jarvis who was his greatest mentor. He would go onto educate TJ in professional race riding, training, and care for thoroughbred racehorses. Before progressing to the next stage of his career, TJ travelled to America and Italy to further his racing education.
With a career spanning over 35 years, TJ has been fortunate to work and ride for Julie Cecil along with other leading names, David Loder and for the highly regarded global company, Godolphin which took his career internationally to Australia, Dubai and France. This provided exciting opportunities to gain vital knowledge, oversee operational aspects and take personal responsibility for multi-million pound assets.
Most recently, TJ became Assistant Trainer to Roger Varian helping achieve many Group 1 winners and representing the yard at international level. Following great success during his time here, TJ decided to branch out and apply for his very own training licence. At the age of 53, TJ has proudly obtained his Racehorse Training Licence and has a fantastic training facility at Red House Stables on Hamilton Road in Newmarket. Here, he has already achieved brilliant success within his first few years, with many more exciting opportunities to come.
